This week we caught up with the charismatic Nicole Mawby, EFL teacher at Inspire Education. Miss Mawby is not an easy one to hunt down, as up until now, she has been spending her days in Spain teaching English at an International School. However, she’s coming home! Nicole will be starting a Masters in Curating in the UK shortly. So we thought we’d take some time, now, to find out what our dear Nicole has to say…
Nicole, describe yourself in 3 words.
Exuberant, creative and curious.
What were you like at school?
‘Too quiet’! I was a bit of dreamer and wasn’t really interested in anything except Art, Media Studies or English. Those subjects allowed me to think outside of the box.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I had a lot of phases… from dolphin trainer to travel guide. I guess ending up as a TEFL teacher makes sense now ;)
Who inspires you now, and why?
Anyone ambitious and driven.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
I’d like to read minds… Or speak every language.
Favourite English phrase?
‘Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.’ — Salvador Dalí
If you were stranded on a Desert Island, which 3 things couldn’t you live without?
My camera, a good book and music.
What is your greatest strength?
What is your weirdest quirk?
I guess you’d have to ask someone else that… Maybe my ability to giggle at pretty much anything?!
What is your biggest fear?
Coco Loco Shampoo
Favourite Disney character?
Jack Sparrow –The Pirates of the Caribbean
If you could visit a fictional place, where would you go and why?
Wonderland, for the tea parties.
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I’d like to be an owl…they’re wise, very good at seeing the big picture, and they can fly!
What are you most excited about for the future?
I’m moving back to the UK to study a MA in Curating!
Best memory from Inspire Education?
The amazing Inspire parody with all of the students. Malena was an amazing ‘me’!
Favourite Inspire trip?
Favourite Inspire night?
Ooo it’s so hard to choose! Maybe the Exhibition Night. It’s lovely to see everyone together and celebrating what they’ve been doing over the course.
Best advice to offer prospective Inspire students?
Throw yourself in! Time flies when you’re having fun, so make the most of every moment.
Finally, Lion, Tiger or Wolf?
